Those led by the Spirit of God are sons of God

Those Led By The Spirit Of God Are Children Of God

The Bible tells us that those led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. We live in a world that glorifies carnal living. Wherever we turn we are bombarded with people who live a life not pleasing to God. In this age of social media, most people are just about self; they want other people to see and like their photos and posts, many people seem to be addicted to being on social media.

People are posting about every aspect of their lives, many like the validation and admiration they get from people online, yet, most of those online “friends” are complete strangers.

People go to huge extents to attract others to their online pages, it is all about marketing themselves so as to be liked by the world. People come up with topics that will provoke huge debates, and many people like the attention that is created.

It is a selfish world, it is a world where it seems like people cannot be content with their lives without posting it online. Many people feed off the likes, and the comments, and the shares, and the publicity, and the ‘fame’. To maintain the interest of other people, many people go to great lengths that involve a lot of compromise.

Carnality has been normalized, it seems to be the ‘in-thing’. Immodesty has been normalized, nowadays many people think they can dress however they like because it is within their rights to do so, yet, they do not consider if their way of dressing is honoring God.

People like drawing attention to themselves, drawing attention to their bodies, and in the process, they become a stumbling block to many people. There are many people who will not leave their houses unless they look picture-perfect, everything has to be flawless for them. There is no problem taking care of ourselves and looking good, but too many people have made an idol out of their appearances.

Too many people use their appearances as the bargaining chip, they use the way they look as the means to achieve what they want in life, they use the way they look to validate themselves. Many people like posing in photos in sensual ways, their poses, their looks, their talk, and the way they carry themselves screams vanity and haughtiness, one can see pride and carnality oozing out of them.

If we take care of our bodies only and neglect our souls and spirits, then we are really missing the point.

If we neglect our spiritual lives, our time with the Most High God, but spend hours trying to make our bodies look perfect, we are missing the mark. The body is dust and shall be returned to dust when our life here on earth is over, and if the body is all we ever cared about during our life here, then we will have nothing of importance left, our works will not stand before God.

If you live your life to fulfill the desires of your flesh, then you are headed down the wide path that leads to destruction. Sin leads to death.

Let us put first things first. The most important thing in our lives should be seeking the Kingdom of God and His righteousness; everything else should come after God. Those led by the Spirit of God are children of God.

Use the time you have been given on this earth wisely, for the glory of God. Once a person dies, their destiny is sealed; if they died in their sin without accepting Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, their chances of repenting are over.

Let us ask God to empower us by His Spirit to die to the flesh and walk along the narrow way that leads to life. The Bible tells us to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in us both to do and to will His good pleasure. It is God who gives us the desire and the power to obey Him. Without God, we would be headed for destruction, without Him, the desires of our hearts are evil, without God empowering us, we would be unable to follow Him, without God, we would live a carnal sinful life that leads to death.

But God, because of how much He loves us, sent His begotten Son on earth to die in our place so that through Him, only through Christ, will we live eternally with God.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16.

God loves us and He is very patient, allowing us the time to repent; He does not desire for any of us to perish. Yet, continuously, many people reject Him. Let us choose wisely. The flesh leads to death, but the Spirit leads to life. The fruits of our lives will reveal if we are led by the flesh or if we are led by the Holy Spirit.

I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in the time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:16-26.

One mark of a true follower of Jesus Christ is that they obey God’s commandments. If we claim to love God yet we disobey His commandments and live a sinful life, then that makes us liars.

Yes, we live in a fallen world and occasionally we will stumble and fall, but even then, we are to repent quickly and change our ways. If we love God, then we will not willingly sin against Him, He is holy, He hates sin. Let us stop making excuses for our sins and confess whenever we do sin, and pray for God to empower us by His Spirit to live a life pleasing to Him.

There should be a difference between a child of God and people lost in the world, we should not live as the world lives, we should not be carnal people. We are to crucify the flesh and be led by the Spirit of God, obeying Him in every aspect of our lives. Those led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Blessings.
