Haughtiness

Haughtiness – Do Not Be A Haughty Christian

Share

Haughtiness is a condition of the heart whereby people elevate themselves and consider themselves better than others. A haughty person is proud and arrogant. Haughtiness makes it difficult for a person to accept correction and instruction.

Haughty people think that they know better, that they are better people, that they have better ideas, that their way of life is better, and carry an aura of self-importance. Such are egotistical, condescending, disdainful, contemptuous, and full of mockery. Do not be a haughty Christian.

The Bible warns against haughtiness. We are told that before destruction the heart of a man is haughty and before honor is humility. Haughtiness is destructive.

A haughty attitude will bring you down very fast.

Haughty people have no regard for God. They do not think that they need Him in their lives. Such think that they can do things with their own strength; what a sad way to live. People who attempt to live life their own way using their own strength do not go far. They soon fall and fall hard.

Guard your heart against haughtiness; it is sin before the Lord. God hates sin. A haughty heart is detestable in the eyes of God. It is sad to see created beings elevate themselves above their Creator.

God created man to worship Him and it is sad to see that many have gone out of the way and live for themselves and for things of this world.

Many do not recognize God, they think they are okay and that they are in charge of their lives. What they do not understand is that they are on the way to hell, unless they repent and change their ways.

God loves humility. Those who humble themselves under the mighty hand of God are exalted in due time. A humble person acknowledges their full dependence on God. They understand that they need God every moment of their lives. Such do not rely on their own strength but look up to Jesus Christ as their source of everything.

Worshipping God in truth and spirit requires us to approach Him with a humble heart. That is when we are able to surrender fully to God and let Him take over and allow His perfect will to prevail.

By humility and the fear of the Lord are riches and honor and life.

Do not follow the way of the haughty and the proud; that only leads to shame, downfall, and destruction. Choose to clothe yourself with humility. If you want God to lift you up, choose the way of humility and fear the Lord your God.

Do not listen to those who call you weak, or foolish, or those who look down on you. Continue moving in the direction God is leading you towards in total submission to Him. With time, as God lifts you up, those who despised you will come to see that God was indeed with you.

But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty; and the base things of the world and the things which are despised God has chosen, and the things which are not, to bring to nothing the things that are, that no flesh should glory in His presence. But of Him you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God – and righteousness and sanctification and redemption – that, as it is written, “He who glories, let him glory in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 1:27-31.
