Love Takes No Pleasure In Evil But Rejoices In The Truth

Share

Love takes no pleasure in evil. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins. Love does not rejoice at wrongdoing, it does not rejoice at unrighteousness, it does not rejoice in iniquity, it is never glad about sin. On the contrary, love is always glad to side with the truth and is pleased when the truth wins, it joyfully sides with the truth.

We live in a world where people influence each other in all the wrong ways. In an effort to feel accepted and validated, most people participate in sin. We live in a world that treasures recognition and people’s praise more than glorifying God. Because of that, most people end up conforming to the patterns of the world, the blind are leading the blind and laughing about it!

The world is full of deception, and full of perversion – where people call what is wrong good, and call what is good bad. The truth is offensive to most people, and usually it is met with a lot of hostility. Speaking the truth will cost you some of your family, it will cost you some or even all of your friends, it will cost you to carry your cross and follow Jesus. That is why most people would rather compromise than deny themselves, take up their cross, and follow Jesus Christ.

Most people would rather keep friendships and relationships that are not pleasing God and that are drawing them away from God; they would rather be praised and liked by other people than stand with the truth.

Love takes no pleasure in evil. It does not force or coerce the other person to participate in evil deeds or words as a ‘prove that they love you’; that is manipulation and comes from a self-centered and prideful insecure heart of the person telling you to do or say such things. The world is full of people who will tell you to do or say something in order to prove that you love them. They will tell you that if you love them, then you would do such and such a thing or say such and such a thing. There is a lot of manipulation and deception in this world.

There are people who will try to turn you into someone that you are not, they will try and manipulate you into conforming to an image of you that they have in their minds; irrespective of how much damage is done in your life. They will bombard you with their expectations of you, at times evil things that they want you to do and say. Yet, when you tell such people the truth, they will turn against you, they will turn abusive, they will tell you that you do not know what you are saying, they will give you labels.

We should be very careful and not be participants in deeds and words of unrighteousness, we should not be participants in sin. Anyone who tells you to sin as a “prove of love” does not know what love is and neither do they love you. Remember, love takes no pleasure in evil. A person who loves you will not lead you to sin, they will not drive you away from God.

Love rejoices with the truth, and the truth is found in God’s Word. We should learn to call sin for what sin is, sin. We should never allow anyone to drive us to do or say what we know is wrong. Our aim should always be to please God, not people.

Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 1 Corinthians 6:9-10.

Flee from sin! Stand with the truth.

Blessings.
