The Bible tells us that you shall know them by their fruits. There are many people who know how to conceal their real identities. Such people will tell you what you want to hear and they will show you a version of themselves that best serves their interests.
Too many times, we are often deceived by the external appearances of people; we tend to think that just because they seem like a ‘good’ person, then that is really who they are. We forget it is not the body that defines who a person is.
There are people who live a masked life, we do not get to easily know who they are on the inside.
We have been conditioned by the world to look at insignificant things about a person, and too many times we are fooled by the external vanities that people are displaying. We can be with a person for a long period of time, but if we are not discerning, then we will not be able to know who they are and what their intentions are towards us.
External appearances are deceiving. Just because a person seems to know all the right things to say and do, does not mean that that is who they really are. You shall know them by their fruits.
Many times that is just a mask they are putting on because it is easily acceptable by the society. A person can seem to know most of the scriptures and talk all the church-like talks, a person can even be serving in different ministries in the church, but, even when they do all that, let us never be fooled into automatically believing that they are truly born-again believers. Such people can be doing and saying the right things, but if the fruits of their lives prove otherwise, then we better see them for who they truly are.
We should not try to justify the fruit of a person’s life by giving excuses using all the things they seem to do and say right. If their fruit is that of the flesh, then we better see them for who they are, even as we pray for them. Even when they try to conceal their true identity, eventually we shall see their fruits manifested in their lives.
When we develop a relationship with God, one of the things we gain is discernment. We start seeing truth from error, we are no longer superficial and no longer look at things in the way that the world does.
The ways of the world and the way of God are totally different. When we get saved, our spiritual eyes are opened and we gain spiritual insight. When major decisions in life are made when a person is still spiritually blind, then they end up making a decision with no spiritual insight.
The trends of this world usually go against the Word of God, that is why we should not rely on popular opinion, but all our decisions should always be based on the Word of God. If as you get to know a person you realize that that person is living a life governed by the flesh, then you have your answer; even if that person says that they are a Christian, and no matter what position they occupy in the church or in this world.
Never compromise on the Word of God. If the Holy Spirit convicts you about a certain person or a certain situation, then you better take the necessary steps.
There are major decisions in this life that should only be made after a person has submitted their life to the Lord and they are walking in obedience to God. There are many decisions that we make that will affect us for the rest of our lives. Because of that, we should involve God in every decision we make in life. If we make hasty decisions, then we will end up living with the consequences of those decisions. When we make decisions without involving God, then we usually end up missing God’s timing and God’s best for our lives.
There are many people who will put on a mask in order to deceive you, and you end up in a situation and making a decision that you would not have made had you seen who those people really are. There is so much selfishness in this world and most people usually seek what will benefit them most.
There are many people who will approach you but their intention is to use you to fill a void within them or to fulfill a certain lust that they have. There are others who will approach you out of envy and are coveting your life, and when they come into your life, they do all they can to turn your life upside down. When such a person who had put on a mask finally enters your life, they finally start manifesting and you start seeing the real fruits of their lives. Let us watch out lest we be deceived! You shall know them by their fruits.
A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. You shall know them by their fruits. If a person keeps telling you that they are a ‘nice’ person but the fruits of their life prove otherwise, you better believe the fruits. Do not be fooled by nice words and carefully calculated actions meant to deceive you. The Word of God clearly tells us what the fruits of the flesh are, and what the fruit of the Spirit is. Never, ever, second guess the Word of God. The Word of God is pure truth.
Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the Kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law. Galatians 5:19-23.
Get to know people by their fruits. You shall know them by their fruits.
