Surrender Your Life To God

Reaching a point of complete surrender requires great strength, but thanks be to God, that by the power of the Holy Spirit, we are able to reach such a state. When we completely surrender to God, we are able to say, may God’s will be done in our lives and not our own will, and not only say that but mean it. Choose to surrender your life to God.

Surrender to God is a heart attitude whereby we stop pushing forward for our will, how we want things to turn out, or how we want our lives to be, and instead we allow God to have complete control.

We come out of the driver’s seat of trying to control everything and allow God to be the One who directs every aspect of our lives. We stop walking by sight and instead we start walking by faith. When we walk by faith, we may not know what the next step is but because we trust in God, we know that He will order our steps and lead us along the right path. Surrender your life to God.

He that trusts in his own heart is a fool: but whosoever walks wisely, he shall be delivered. Proverbs 28:26.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6.

Abraham was a man of great faith. He left his native land and believed God to lead him into a land that he did not know.

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get you out of your country, and from your kindred, and from your father’s house, unto a land that I will show you. Genesis 12:1

So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran. Genesis 12:4

When God told Abraham to sacrifice Isaac, his only son, he obeyed and was willing to sacrifice what was precious to him. He obeyed God without question.

And it came to pass after these things, that God did test Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. And He said, Take now your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and get you into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I tell you of. And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his donkey, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and cut the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him. Genesis 22:1-3.

And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. And the angel of the Lord called unto him out of heaven, and said, Abraham, Abraham: and he said, Here am I. And He said, Lay not your hand upon the lad, neither do you anything unto him: for now I know that you fear God, seeing you have not withheld your son, your only son from Me. Genesis 22:9-12.

In life, we come across situations that necessitate our making the decision of whether we will follow God or whether we will push for our own way. When we regard something as very important to us, it is very easy to lean towards pushing for our own way. We may give excuses such as, what if such an opportunity never presents to us again? We think it is easier to go the way that we think will be good for us and ignore where God is leading us. However, many have learned the hard way that God’s way is the best way. Surrender your life to God.

When we ignore God’s leading, then we can be sure that the alternative path will bring nothing but pain in our lives.

When we are truly surrendered to God, we reach a place whereby we do not want anything in our lives that goes against the will of God. If it is a relationship that we know is not God’s will for us, we let go of it and surrender it to God, we do not try to hold it tightly. When we hold on to things or people too tight, we end up idolizing those things or that person or those people, and the devil then uses that as a doorway into our lives. Let go and surrender your life to God.

For you shall worship no other god: for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Exodus 34:14.

Faith pleases God.

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that come to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6.

When our trust is in God, then we will remain standing no matter the outcome of circumstances in our lives. Our trust is in God and not in people or things.  When we surrender our lives, our families, our jobs, our future, and every other aspect of our lives to God, then we are able to get rest for our souls in Christ Jesus.

We give Jesus all our burdens and He gives us rest. Whatever has been weighing us down in life, God tells us to give Him our burdens. We are not to live this life heavy-laden, we are to come to Christ and lay all at the cross.

Come unto Me, all you that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you, and learn of Me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and you shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy, and My burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30.

Surrender your life to God and you will come to know for sure that God is indeed a good God.
