We are living in the last days. The Bible tells us to be aware of wolves in sheep’s clothing. By their fruits, we shall know them.
Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves. You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles? Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Therefore by their fruits you will know them. Matthew 7:15-20.
We live during an age whereby church and ministry have been converted into a business and an avenue for gaining money and fame.
There are so many people calling themselves preachers or ministers of the Word of God. Most places you turn, whether in your neighborhood, your city, online – there are upcoming people calling themselves ministers. There are so many churches coming up; it seems like there are many people who want to own a church. Being in ministry is like the “in thing”.
Social media has made it easy for those people who want to gain fame and recognition, they just have to say and do the things that people want to hear and see, and within a short period, they are “famous” with many followers. We live during a time where there are people who will do anything and say anything to climb up the social ladder.
With so many upcoming people who call themselves ministers of the Word and the establishment of so many churches, one starts to wonder who really called most of these people; is it God or did they call themselves into ministry? With time we come to realize that many people are using the name of God for their own gain. Many people know that anything branded with the name of God is easily acceptable to society. That is why so many people are using the name of God to advance their own selfish evil interests.
Many people in society are deceived because they lack discernment and think anything branded to be of God by human beings must be of God.
Many people fall into the trap of cunning, crafty, deceptive men and women who use the Word of God as a means for selfish gains. These deceptive people will smile at you and lie to your face, they will tell you what you want to hear and use God’s Word to make empty promises and to give you false hope, they will throw you into a cycle of confusion. Before you know ‘what hit you’ you will be in a dark cycle of confusion and deception. Such people will play with your mind to an extent that you start second-guessing everything you have ever known.
They will twist the Word of God and convey a twisted version of what the Word of God really says and means. Such people have no fear of God. They are wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Externally such people appear nice but that external appearance is just a cover-up. They will do external deeds that make them appear righteous in the eyes of men yet inside their hearts are as dark as coal. They will put on an outer show, they have perfected the art of deception and manipulating people’s minds to achieve their evil desires.
They seem to be ‘smart’ by worldly standards and appear very charming. They know how to move the crowd, they know what people want and give them exactly what they want instead of what they need. They have mastered human psychology and craft evil things in their minds on how to devour the unsuspecting prey. They usually know exactly what they are doing; what they do and say is carefully calculated, wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Do not be deceived. Just because a person calls themselves a minister of the Word of God does not mean that they are. They might just be using the name of God to advance their worldly desires. There is so much perversion in the world and the devil has mastered the art of making counterfeits.
Satan’s aim is to make the counterfeit seem as close to the truth as possible so that many people will not be able to tell the difference.
There are ravenous wolves out there who are clothed in sheep’s clothing, whose only aim is to steal from you, kill you, and destroy you. They will do everything possible to steal what you have and keep it for themselves, they will even pose as your friend and act like your friend yet they know exactly what they are doing, they know exactly what they want to achieve. They will lure you into telling them what you are facing or your weaknesses and then use the information you give them against you and blackmail you if you do not co-operate.
Such people want to feel like they have power over you and will drive you into dark valleys until they get what they want. Satan has no honor.
Thank God for the Holy Spirit of God who dwells within us. The Holy Spirit is our Guide and Teacher of Truth and helps us discern. Deceptive people can lie to everyone else but they cannot lie to the Spirit of God. Try as they may, their fruits eventually manifest. A bad tree can never bear good fruit. If we spend time studying the Word of God and developing a personal relationship with Him, we start seeing clearly.
Our spiritual eyes are open and we are able to see people as they are behind the external masks they put on.
The Holy Spirit reveals the hearts of people to us and we are able to see evil as evil even when covered externally with appealing deeds and words. We are able to see beyond the outer show displayed by these false prophets. When we spend time with God and when our life is under the Lordship of Jesus Christ and led by the Holy Spirit, we are able to see things and people as God sees them. The Word of God is our roadmap.
By their fruits you will know them! What is inside the heart of a person manifests externally.
Many of us are so blinded and so impatient that we do not take the time to find out if what people are telling us or showing us is true or false. Test the spirits! Do not just take people at their word unless they have proven to be trustworthy, and even then, always be alert and make sure what they say and do is in alignment with the Word of God. Those evil people are out to get you and use you! Be wise!
Know and store the Word of God in your heart. Ask God to give you wisdom and discernment. Even when the wolves put on sheep clothing, by the power of God we are able to see beyond external appearances and see the wolves inside.
People who use the name and Word of God in vain and for achieving their selfish desires fall under God’s judgement, and unless they repent and turn away from their evil ways, they are headed for destruction.
“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the Kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'” Matthew 7:21-23.
May we be wise and do what the Word of God says and never use the name of God for selfish gains. May everything we do and say be for the honor and glory of God.
Blessings.
