Hope in Jesus

Hope – Jesus Christ Is Our Hope

Share

Hope is defined as “a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen.” It is an expectation, a longing, an aspiration, a desire, a yearning. When we are hopeful, we are in anticipation and expectancy.

Life is full of challenges, and if we allow those challenges to weigh us down, soon we will look at ourselves and no longer recognize who we are anymore.

If we allow the cares and worries of this world to get into us, then we will start living defeated lives. There are too many things in this world, which if we allow them, will steal our joy. We will start aging while we are still youth because of how much we have allowed the enemy to use our lives as his playground.

The enemy is out there, working day and night, doing everything within his means to cause the people of God to fall, to cause people to lose hope, to cause people to live in sicknesses and diseases, to cause people to live in disabilities, to cause families to break down, to cause people to ruin their lives through all sorts of addictions, to cause people to take their own lives, to cause people to live in all sorts of darkness.

Let us wake up and be sober. Let us realize what we are dealing with. The moment we start living defeated hopeless self-deprecating and others’ depreciating lives, the enemy wins. The enemy is happy when we live divided lives, envy-filled lives, when we are jealous of one another, when we live in sin – the enemy gets his pleasures from our downfall. We have to realize that sin leads to death.

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 6:23.

The enemy has nothing to offer us, he is a defeated being who hates God’s people and wants them to end up in hell with him.

Let us be wise enough to realize that a life of sin will lead to eternal separation from God, and let us not fall into the enemy’s traps. Sin may seem good in the beginning, it does not require much to sin, it does not require self-control to sin, it really does come so easily, yet, the cost to pay is always out of proportion, and for many people, once they are deep in sin, coming out is very difficult.

God knew the hold of sin over people’s lives, and that is why He sent His sinless begotten Son Jesus Christ to become sin on our behalf. On our own, we cannot overcome sin. The debt could only be paid by God’s own Son, and only in God is hope found.

Hope enables us to be joyful irrespective of our circumstances. When we are hopeful, we do not allow the worries of this world to move us. We have our eyes fixed on the Lord at all times. This hope enables us to have a smile on our faces even when everything seems to be going wrong in our lives, in our surroundings, and in the world at large.

In the midst of all the pain, of all the trials and tribulations, of diseases and sicknesses, of abandonment and rejection, of job loss, of natural disasters, of grief, in the midst of loss of any kind – in the midst of all the storms of this life, those who know God have hope, they have something to look forward to, they have joy, they have peace that surpasses all human understanding, the peace of God.

Those who know God are not swayed about, they know who they are, they know whose they are, they know why they are here, and they know where they are going. What God has prepared for those who love Him is beyond human comprehension.

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'” 1 Corinthians 2:9.

The Lord is our fortress, He is ever-present, unchanging and we know we can trust in Him.

The assurance of eternal life with God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit is the source of our hope. We know that even if we die, we shall live again. Jesus Christ is the resurrection and the life, and whoever believes in Him will live even if they die, and everyone who lives and believes in Him shall never die.

God is our Father, and He loves us with an everlasting love. We are the children of God, and God who raised Christ from the dead gives life to our mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in us who believe. As many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God, and as children, then we are heirs – heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. If we suffer with Christ, we shall also be glorified together with Him, and the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 1 John 3:2.

Our Lord and Savior is coming soon and very soon, to take us home.

And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away. Revelation 21:4.

Blessings.
