God’s Sheep Hear His Voice, He Knows Them, And They Follow Him

Share

God’s sheep hear His voice. The Lord is our Shepherd. We belong to God, He is our Father, and as a loving Father, He talks to us. When we spend time with God and in His Word, with time, we start recognizing His voice.

We come to realize that God does indeed speak but most of us are usually not listening, we are usually too busy following and pursuing things of this world.

When we are away from God we cannot hear Him and neither can we follow Him, and even when He speaks and we hear Him we are more than likely to ignore Him. When we are consumed with the worries and pleasures of the world, we will be running on our own strength and with time we will grow weary, we will make our own decisions and then get frustrated when our decisions backfire on our faces.

God’s Word is God Himself communicating with us. His Word is breathed and inspired by Him. It is a treasure if we only take heed and do what He says.

God speaks to us through His Word, through His servants, through our circumstances, through a small still voice. The Holy Spirit is our Teacher of Truth and bears witness with our spirit the truths of the Kingdom of God. The Holy Spirit convicts us. We know it is God because it aligns with His Word. Anything that contradicts God’s Word is not from Him.

We live in a world full of deception. We are told that the god of this world is Satan and he is the father of all lies. We have to get to a point in our lives where we know the truth for ourselves. We cannot fight the enemy’s deception without knowing what the truth is. We cannot distinguish God’s voice from our own imaginations or from the enemy’s attacks if we do not know what God’s Word says.

We have to know God for ourselves, we have to develop a personal relationship with Him, we have to spend time communicating with God, we have to spend time studying and meditating on His Word and listening to Him speak to us. We have to know God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We have to know the character of God. We have to know God and not just hear about Him. We belong to God, He is our Father, He loves us with an everlasting love.

“My sheep listen to My voice; I know them, and they follow Me. I give them eternal life, and they never perish. No one can snatch them out of My hand.” John 10:27-28.

It is hard to follow a God whom we do not have a relationship with. Without getting to know God we will fall into the deception of not trusting Him. In developing a relationship with God, we take the time to know Him, we take the time to know the plans He has for us, we come to know that He is a loving God and everything He does is for our good. When we know God, we trust Him.

Whenever we go outside God’s will, we open our lives to attacks from the enemy, we start ignoring the voice of the Holy Spirit. When we walk away from God, we only have ourselves to blame when we fall down. We have to come to a point in our lives where we take the Word of God as it is and apply it in our lives, we have to put on the full armor of God so that we can be able to fight the spiritual battles in this life; the enemy never sleeps.

We have a good Shepherd, and when we spend time in His presence, we come to know Him and recognize His voice when He speaks.

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness for His name’s sake. Psalm 23:1-3.
