God heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds

Most people walk through life with open gaping wounds, with broken hearts, with bleeding hearts. Life is full of storms, things change in a split of a second. Within no time something can happen that would change the course of our lives. We meet people who do or say things that leave us with scars. We face losses in life; whether it is the loss of a loved one, or any other kind of loss. We face broken families, broken relationships, and broken friendships.

We face rejection of all kinds; whether it is people avoiding us, or being denied a job opportunity. We face missed opportunities and things we consider lost opportunities. We face illnesses of all kinds. We go through physical distress, emotional and psychological problems, and spiritual warfare. In life, we meet people who mistreat us, abusive people, and people who may hate us for no reason known to us.

That is the world we live in; a broken world, with human beings that have a fallen nature, a world full of broken hearts; a world full of people with bleeding hearts.

It is a chaotic world. Usually, the chaos we see on the outside is a reflection of the chaos inside us. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. Anything done is usually first conceived in the mind. A chaotic world inside people’s hearts leads to external turmoil in those people’s lives; it is an overflow from the brokenness within them. There is a lot happening, whether outside or within us that leaves us broken.

Most people walk through life with broken hearts and never recover from it. Some lead lonely miserable lives and die feeling empty. Inside every human heart is a deep longing and craving. Most people never come to find out the truth of what exactly their hearts were longing for. In an attempt to fill up the voids and mend the broken pieces, people seek all sorts of things; there are those who seek wealth and power, some for relationships, and others for pleasures of all kinds. Yet, soon they come to realize the vanity in those things.

People have learned how to mask their brokenness. We can go on to blame others for the state we are in, some put on masks of perfection, some hide in church, some develop pride and arrogance to prove to others they are better, some turn to anger, some turn to search for fame and recognition, some turn to hatred and bitterness, some go on to dedicate their lives to the destruction of other people’s lives.

It is a broken world full of broken people. We usually do not know what other people are going through. We usually do not know who to trust. The world is full of condemnation and therefore it becomes the safer option to just go on in life as if everything was okay. It is easier to just put on a mask and carry on with life. It is easier to put others down when deep inside we are in chaos, when deep inside we ourselves are hurting and start projecting that hurt to other people.

That is why the Bible tells us to trust in God and not man; God never fails.

Some people never recover. Some go on to leave this earth with broken hearts or because of broken hearts. It is possible for years to go by yet we are still in the same spot we were 10 years ago. It is possible to smile on the outside yet deep inside we are falling apart. It is possible to become stuck in life and just go with the flow without a sense of any direction. Some people give up on the way; they fall into despair and hopelessness. Some simply lose the desire to go on in life.

A broken heart is one of the most devastating things to go through. It leaves a person feeling empty, with deep aching inside. Other people may not see it yet that does not mean it is not there. At times it presents with physical symptoms; pain, sleeplessness, loss of appetite, and loss of desire to be with people – symptoms start manifesting on the body externally. It is a deep cry inside.

During such times though, we get to experience the love of our Father in such a special way. The Bible says God is nigh to the brokenhearted, to those who are crushed in spirit. How true that is! God draws near to His children during such times. God is always present, yet, during those times, we experience Him in such a deep, personal, and special way. Those who have experienced it know it to be true. He holds us by the hand and walks with us.

Fear not, for I Am with you; be not dismayed for I Am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. Isaiah 41:10.

Jesus told us to go to Him when we labor and are heavy-laden, and He will give us rest for our souls. We are not meant to carry all life’s burdens alone, God wants us to take everything to Him.

When Christ died on the cross 2000 years ago, He bore everything for us. He took all our burdens and sins and paid the price on our behalf. It is a gift that is ours to take, we only have to accept it, it is given freely. In this life, we will have troubles, yet we know Jesus overcame so there is nothing that can separate us from the love of God through Christ.

When Jesus was about to ascend, He left us with His peace, not peace like the world gives; on the contrary, it is a peace that surpasses our human understanding. In the storms, He is there. He helps us go through the storms of life and eventually rise above them. God’s grace is always sufficient and His power is made perfect in our weaknesses. God is the healer, our healer. We take our bleeding hearts to Him and He mends the wounds and transforms our lives for the better.

God gives us new hearts, tender hearts that are compassionate and willing to surrender to Him.

The Bible says Jesus bore our sins in His body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; by His wounds, we are healed. Jesus is the missing piece in our hearts. That deep longing, deep ache, deep craving is for God. He is the missing piece that makes the whole. He is the One who gives meaning to life. He is the One who brings together the broken pieces and makes us as good as new.

Jesus bled on the cross so that we may be made whole; to set us free from the law of sin and death. Jesus is the answer. We only have to stand on the promises of God and it will be well with our souls. Things may not work out the way we had planned in our hearts but with God, it is a win-win; all things work out for good to those who love Him.

The Word of God has life; it is what we turn to; we turn to God. We speak the Word into our circumstances. The Bible says that God sent out His Word and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction. It is the same today as it was in the past. God’s Word remains. In our brokenness, we give everything to God. We die with Christ and rise with Christ. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away. Behold, the new has come!

Blessings.
